This guide uses the latest Véra jailbreak method, sourced from the KindleModding.

⚠️ First and foremost: the Kindle Scribe 3 and Kindle Scribe Color Soft are not supported by this jailbreak at this time.

To prevent your Kindle from automatically downloading and installing firmware updates during the jailbreak, it is strongly recommended that you keep the available storage under 100MB and delete any .bin files from the root directory—this prevents the system from detecting an update package and triggering an auto‑install.

Currently, this method works on the following Kindle models running firmware version ≤ 5.19.6:

  • Kindle 11 (2022 release)

  • Kindle 11e (2024 release)

  • Kindle Paperwhite 5

  • Kindle Paperwhite 6

  • Kindle Colorsoft

  • Kindle Scribe 1

  • Kindle Scribe 2

A quick heads‑up: the jailbreak process typically requires an internet connection. Before you start, make sure your Kindle has enough battery charge so it doesn't shut down midway and break the process. It's also a good idea to read through the full guide in advance so you know exactly what to expect.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to Menu → Settings → Menu → Device Info on your Kindle to check your current firmware version. Make sure it is 5.19.6 or lower.

  1. Tap the 【…】 menu in the upper‑right corner, open the Web Browser, and enter the following URL in the address bar: https://kindlemodding.org/vera

  1. First, check that the page has correctly identified your specific Kindle model. If your device model does not appear on the page, that means this method is not yet compatible with your device.

4.Click the drop‑down menu and select the firmware version you noted down earlier from your device info. If your exact version isn't listed, as long as your firmware falls somewhere between 5.17 and 5.19.6, you can try picking the closest match available.

5.Download both e‑books that appear on the page: Font Calibration and Véra.

6.Once the downloads are complete, close the browser and open Font Calibration from your Kindle library. Then tap the 【Aa】 font settings and adjust as follows:

  • Set the font to Bookerly

  • Set boldness to the minimum level—0

  • Set font size to the maximum

  1. In the font settings panel, if you see a "Spacing" option, set the "Line spacing" to 2.

  2. Switch to the 【Layout】 tab and set "Line spacing" to Medium.

  3. Finally, go to the 【Theme】 tab and save your current settings as a theme.

10.Open the Véra book from your library and wait a few seconds—the jailbreak will run automatically.

(If the screen stays stuck for too long, feel free to hold down the power button to restart your device. After the reboot, you can safely delete both books you downloaded earlier.)
